Getting to Know…Dr. Stan Surette
Stanley Surette, MD, partner and Obstetrician-Gynecologist at Women’s Health of Central MA is accepting new patients at both our Shrewsbury Street and Webster Lake locations.
Could you tell us about your education & training? I received my undergraduate degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut. After graduation I took a job as a research assistant at Boston University, studying Immunology. I was then offered an opportunity to study medicine at the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland where my wife and I spent two years. I transferred back to Boston University to complete my degree.
How did you decide you wanted to become an Obstetrician-Gynecologist? I became interested in Obstetrics and Gynecology during my last two years of medical school. During that time my wife gave birth to twins and there were some complications related to the pregnancy. I realized that I enjoyed both patient care and surgery.
Do you have specific clinical Interests? My clinical interests are in pelvic surgery, non-invasive surgery and endometriosis.
What are your favorite aspects of your practice? My favorite aspect of our practice is the continuity of care that we are able to offer to our patients. I enjoy working with a knowledgeable and dedicated staff that allows me to provide what I believe is the best women’s healthcare in Central Mass.
Would you tell us a bit about your life outside of work? On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my wife and now adult children making dinners, skiing, or playing golf. Additionally, I like to walk my dog, Holly, and go to yoga class. I also volunteer at the Worcester County Food Bank.
