At Women’s Health of Central Massachusetts, we care about all aspects of your health and well-being.  We endeavor to improve the quality of our patients’ lives by providing education, reassurance and relief from disease.  Ideally, we hope to have the greatest positive impact by providing our patients with the tools of prevention.  Exercise is the cornerstone of disease prevention and promotes physical, social and emotional well-being.  In support of this mission, we are proud to announce a new partnership with Janet Heuhls and her program: ExercisingWELL.com.   Janet has combined her extensive education with 15 years of clinical practice to cultivate a unique exercise resource    I have had the pleasure of getting to know Janet as a patient herself at WHCMA.  I am particularly impressed with not only her vast knowledge, but also her approach to and passion for helping women establish a positive, long term relationship with fitness.   A commitment to regular exercise and the pursuit of personal wellness is one of the most important ways to care for our loved ones, our world and our quality of life.  Janet’s Exercising WELL program provides inspiration, education, community and resources to support you in living your best life.  Thank you Janet for your commitment to improving the well-being of our patients and for being a part of the WHCMA family!

With sincere gratitude,

Dr. Jaimee DeMone

We care about your whole health at Women’s Health of Central Massachusetts. Chances are you already know that exercising regularly is one of the best ways to stay healthy.

Did you also know:

  • Most of the health benefits of exercise are enjoyed at any weight. You are healthier, even if you are carrying extra weight when you are exercising regularly.
  • Exercise is one of the most powerful ways to prevent breast cancer and even the return of cancer.
  • Exercising regularly reduces your risk of dying from any cause by up to 40%.
  • A strong muscle contraction tells your bones to make new bone cells. Regular strength training is like a BOGO sale; you are less likely to fall AND your bones are stronger if you do fall.
  • Your pelvic floor muscles are an important part of core strength and can be strengthened at any age.
  • Just 10 minutes of moderate intensity, quality exercise can release a natural dose of ‘feel good’ brain chemicals that help to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
  • Exercise can prepare you for the changes that happen in your body and your lifestyle before, during and after pregnancy.
  • Exercise does not need to be uncomfortable, sweaty, time-consuming or painful to be beneficial. In fact, exercising in a way that leaves you feeling better each time is the best way to train your brain to make exercise a habit.

You probably also know that each stage of a woman’s life has its own unique challenges with getting enough exercise. That is why we have teamed up with Janet Huehls, (janet@exercisingwell.com) a local clinical exercise physiologist and health coach. Janet can guide you to create an exercise plan that works for your body and your life right now. In her Exercising WELL coaching program, she supports you personally through telephone and email coaching. She shows you how to exercise through a treasure box of easy-to-use online courses for improving stamina, strength and mobility. You learn how to work around the most common challenges like pain, low motivation, and a busy life while building self-motivation skills and confidence in your ability to exercise in the right way for you, right now.
