Could you tell us about your education & training?
Dr. Wilson: I received my bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology at University of Colorado in Boulder Colorado. I then went to medical school at University of Pittsburgh and onto OB/GYN residency at University of Massachusetts in Worcester.

Do you have specific clinical Interests?
Dr. Wilson: I enjoy all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynecology, but have a particular interest in family planning, well woman care and obstetrics

How did you decide you wanted to become an Obstetrician-Gynecologist?
Dr. Wilson: I became interested in a career in medicine during high school but discovered my passion for women’s health while volunteering at a family planning clinic in Boulder Colorado during undergraduate school. During my medical school rotations I enjoyed both my surgical and primary care rotations and was happy to discover that I could practice both in a career in OB/GYN…plus I would get to deliver babies!

What are your favorite aspects of your practice?
Dr. Wilson: I feel incredibly lucky to have a career where answering this question is challenging because there are so many aspects of my practice that I enjoy! I try to create an open and non-judgemental atmosphere where women can feel comfortable talking with me about their most personal issues and concerns. I enjoy practicing a specialty in which I am able to manage problems in a variety of ways (including medication, life-style changes, surgery, etc.) depending on what is best for each patient. Certainly one of the most exciting aspects of OB/GYN is being part of welcoming new life into the world, both through optimizing the health of the pregnancy throughout the course of prenatal care and also being present at delivery.

Would you tell us a bit about your life outside of work?
Dr. Wilson: I grew up in a suburb of Denver, Colorado and moved to Central Massachusetts after medical school to complete my residency training in OB/GYN. I never thought I would stay in Massachusetts but fell in love with the area and was fortunate to be offered my dream job working at Women’s Health of Central Massachusetts! My husband is also a physician and when we are not working we are enjoying being new parents to our daughter who was born in December of 2015!
